Wakiso Giants are confident of frustrating reigning Uganda Premier League Champions KCCA FC when they make their Premier debut today at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo.
This will be the first topflight meeting between the two sides but they recently met in the Pilsner Super 8 with KCCA FC winning 2-0.
KCCA have had a near to perfect preseason as they have gone on to win both the CECAFA Kagame Cup and Super Cup.
They could have won three titles but lost the final of the Super 8 to Vipers SC last Sunday.
Kefa Kisala’s side (Wakiso) took part in the Pilsner Super 8 where they finished 6th following two losses and a single victory in their three games.
After making a host of signings, Saturday’s game will give Wakiso a proper picture of what to expect in the coming season.
Mutebi is optimistic that his side will fly to win
“We have prepared well for the first challenge of the season, Wakiso are a decent side whom i expect to put up great performances in the season.” We are confident and have enough in our armoury to negotiate the tie and fly to win.” Stated Mutebi
KCCA FC will be without the trio of Julius Poloto, Sadam Juma and Hassan Jurua due to respective injuries.
They will rely on Allan Okello, Sekisambu and Charles Lukwago for inspiration.
Wakiso will be without Lawrence Bukenya due to ineligibility to face his parent club.
Hakim Ssenkumba, Muwadda Mawejje and Geoffrey Sserunkuma will be facing their former paymasters and are expected to fire Kisala’s side to positive results.
