Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) commander for Land Forces Lt. Gen Peter Elwelu has finally spoken out after news broke out on Sunday night alleging that he ran mad.
Thecapitaltimes.co.ug reported that Gen. Elwelu had “run mad” and was being treated by a combined team of UPDF medical personnel and those from Butabika Mental Hospital.
According to the article they alleged that he begun with severe headache, later he nausea and started shouting and singing alone in Office. When the situation became tense, his wife informed his seniors that is the Commander in Chief Gen. David Muhoozi and Deputy CDF Gen. Wilson Mbadi who with immediate effect assigned a special medical team to work on him before his mental health could get out of hand.
However, according to Gen. Elwelu, the writer of the article wrote it with intentions best known to him/her adding that he is in this world for a mission which has not been accomplished.
“The person who wrote that article has an objective but I wish him all the best but here I am, am alive and I will live for even more than 100 years because I have a mission to accomplish so I pity those who always talk ill against me,” he said adding that the public has misused the media yet the media.
He says that there are so many evil people in this country who are against him and have always tried their best to get rid of him but they have failed.
“They have tried me in all angles but they will never succeed, I am here on a mission and I must accomplish that,” he emphasized.
Gen. Elwelu was speaking an interview with Patricia Apolot (Kickboxer).
He warned that “Whoever is planning to do something bad to this country, be assured that Elwelu is around and am strong.”
UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire categorically denied reports of Gen Elwelu’s madness and said there’s absolutely no truth in that story.
“We wish to dismiss the rumour circulated by “The Capital Times”regarding the health of Lt Gen Peter Elwelu the UPDF CLF (Commander Land Forces),” he wrote in a Twitter post.
“There is absolutely no iota of truth in the mentioned article.The contents should therefore be ignored and not cause any anxiety,” Brig. Karemire added.
