Vipers SC forward Fahad Bayo and Maroons FC head coach Douglas Bamweyana have been voted the best player and coach for the month of September.
Bayo who joined Vipers at the start of the season from Zambian side Buildcon beat SC Villa’s David Owori and Maroon FC’s Steven Mukwala to the monthly gong.
Bayo is credited for having bagged three goals and two assists in the month of September, a feat that helped Vipers earn seven points out of the possible nine in the team’s first three games of the season.
On the other hand, Bamweyana beat his replacement at former club SC Villa coach Edward Kaziba to the September gong.
Bamweyana has been responsible for turning around Maroons fortunes this season, from relegation strugglers to sixth on the log.
Maroons looked resurgent in September, after falling to URA on the day of the league in disappointing fashion. Maroons under Bamweyana went on to win their next three league games, in quite convincing action as well.
They defeated Kyetume 1-0, before blowing aside Tooro United 2-0 away. They however had to dig deeper to defeat Bright Stars 3-2 in their other game last month.
The first Pilsner Player and coach of the month’s awards for the 2019/20 Uganda Premier league season were held at Kati-Kati restaurant today morning.
