Vipers SC and KCCA FC played out a scoreless draw in their Uganda Premier League fixture played at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Tuesday afternoon.
Vipers maintained their five-point advantage atop the log following this draw against second placed KCCA.
Both sides spurned chances in either half of a closely contested game at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The Venoms had a penalty waved by referee Ali Sabila when Peter Magambo appeared to have tripped debutant Milton Karisa in the box at the stroke of halftime.
Substitute Allan Kayiwa who replaced injured Tito Okello in the opening minutes, created Vipers best chances including a low assist to Rahmat Ssenfuka after he beat Moses Aliro but the effort was blocked by Magambo.
Fabien Mutombora kept the score level, with outstanding saves to deny Erisa Ssekisambu while Charles Lukwago also denied two Geoffrey Wasswa freekicks.
Fahad Bayo had a quiet day, with his best chance coming in form of a header that went wide off a Wasswa delivery.
KCCA FC will feel that it’s two points lost after failing to put the ball in the back of the net despite creating the best chances.
Ssekisambu shot wide when he received from. a tight angle, Muzamir Mutyaba was denied, Saddam Juma curled an inch wide while Mike Mutyaba and Gift Ali shot direct at Fabien.
