Residents and the leadership in Kawanda Wakiso have named the road on which slain Arua Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Ibrahim Abiriga was murdered after him. The road named Abiriga Memorial Road is in honor of the close relationship Abiriga maintained with his neighbors in the area.
“Abiriga was a good man. He had no problems with us and he was very helpful to everyone who was around. He loved our children and would always buy sweets for them when he came back home,” one resident who was thrilled by the naming of the road said.
Abiriga’s wife also called upon the government to build a hospital in the area in the honor of Abiriga so that the people with health problems would be assisted.
“We are happy with what government has done so far. But we would be happier if they put up a hospital in this area for the people, and name it after him,” Abiriga’s wife said.
Other residents who spoke to this newspaper called on government to tarmac the road which is full of dust.
