The Forum for Democratic (FDC) party has revealed that they are investigating Saturday’s planned attack on Col. Kiiza Besiege by unidentified persons.

The revelation came at the party’s press conference at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, on Monday.

Addressing journalists today at the party headquarters, party deputy spokesperson, John Kikonyogo, said the party shall investigate to establish the motives of those people establish who they are working for, why they came at that specific time and act accordingly.

“Our former party president Emeritus Dr. Kiiza Besigye was attacked by young men whose faces are familiar for some of us who have been in politics for some time. As FDC we condemn that fracas that occurred at Bulange,” he said adding that they believe that political parties, organisations and pressure groups are founded to fight for power as they do and implement their manifestos.

“Dr. Besigye as a person has gone through a lot and is now a hardened person. We heard National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General Kasule Lumumba shading crocodile tears calling police to arrest the attackers to appear as if the care about us,” he revealed

He warned youths to refrain from being used by opportunists but warned that FDC is ready to defend itself in the face of similar provocations.

“They should know that FDC is always ready to counter those small small scratches. I cannot call them big issues. Disregard what is on social media, they will not do it again” he adds.

According to Kikonyogo, the opposition should focus on undertaking strategies aimed at taking power not antagonizing each other
