The Uganda Cranes have their work cut out when they face one of Africa’s top guns in Senegal at the Cairo international stadium tomorrow evening.
The 2002 losing finalists stand in Uganda’s way of making it to the quarter finals and Cranes head coach Sebastien Desabre is adamant that his team have all it takes to eliminate the Lions of Teranga.
“This is a big challenge because Senegal is a very good team. Our team is disciplined and they are giving all their efforts for this match,” Desabre said
Uganda has exhibited an expansive style of play during all their group match games, characterized by high intensity movement and possession.
The head coach confirmed that a different approach, perhaps a more cautious one will be employed, based on the magnitude of the match and the opponent.
“It is a knock out game so we are adopting another tactic that what we did against Egypt. Our chance is difficult because we are facing a very good team and a good coach. We are not afraid of any opponent,” he affirmed.
Desabre also called upon his charges to put the previous successes behind their back and focus on the task at hand.
“We were not afraid against DR Congo or Egypt , we respect all the teams but we fear none, we need to be focused and forget the previous matches and look forward to the coming one. We will take our chances and hope to succeed.
It will be the first time the two nations meet at Africa’s greateat show piece and the match will be hosted at the iconic Cairo international stadium at 20:00 hrs EAT
