Slaven Bilic the West Ham United manager has been fired on Monday following a poor start to the new Premier League season.
The former West Ham player Bilic returned to the London club before the start of 2015/16 season, succeeding Sam Allardyce as first-team manager.
West Ham under him, secured several major coups in Dimitri Payet, Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini, Angelo Ogbonna who went on to help the team achieve a 7th-placed English Premier League (EPL) finish and record number of points (62) in club history.
The club failed to maintain the impressive performances in 2016/17 season, being dragged in relegation zone on more than one occasions. Dimitri Payet refused to neither train nor play as he cited “homesick” as the sole reason.
Hammers eventually fought hard but Bilic’s future was under major scrutiny. After talks with shareholders of the club, he remained in charge and brought in renowned signings such as Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic, and Javier Hernandez.
The team still failed to deliver in the new season, losing first three games with no goal scored. More often than not, fans boo the manager and the team in hostile fashion.
On October 21st, West Ham suffered an embarrassing 3-0 home defeat to EPL newcomers Brighton & Hove Albion, and this is said to be the cause of Slaven’s departure.
David Moyes is set to sign a short term contract as the next West Ham manager.
