Damiano Akuze , ‘a witchdoctor’ has dragged the speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga to Jinja  High Court for failing to pay for the charm she received 29 years ago for her job security.

The traditional healer in his suit says that on September 1, 1990, he administered his spiritual powers on Kadaga bringing her to the limelight in the political arena.

This happened at his shrine in Buwala, Buganda Zone, Lulyambuzi Parish in Kamuli District which Kadaga visited seeking help.

She only paid Shs1m in October 2017 and has since refused to pay him the balance of Shs204.5m. Kadaga had promised to construct for him a house worth Shs100m, buy a Tipper truck worth  Shs60m, a plot of land at Shs40m and four cows for the healer which she didn’t do.

On Wednesday, court said it will set the hearing date after Kadaga has filed her response.

“The defendant (Speaker Kadaga) requested the plaintiff (traditional healer) to work on her so that she would be given a big job in government and also be driven in a convoy like a president. The  defendant did not have money to pay the plaintiff at the time. So the plaintiff accepted to work on  her on condition that she would pay the plaintiff as soon as she got the job,” reads a suit as quoted  by Daily Monitor.

“The plaintiff worked on the defendant (Ms Kadaga) for two nights of September 1 and September 2, 1990, and the defendant acknowledged the good care that the plaintiff gave to her,” it adds.

The suit says because of the said charm, Kadaga has served as East African Assembly delegate, MP, minister and currently as the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda.

“Immediately on the 3rd day of September 1990, the defendant (Ms Kadaga) was called by President Museveni and appointed minister and has since then held big positions in government.”

The traditional healer says he will adduce evidence during the trial to prove that Ms Kadaga is in breach of the contract.
