The new government in Zimbabwe will honor former president Robert Mugabe by continuing with plans to establish the 1 billion dollar university in his name.

Robert Mugabe University shall be one of the projects that will immortalize the former president. Weeks ago the national airport was also renamed as Robert Mugabe International Airport.

“We are not going to veer off course. The university shall be named after Robert Mugabe,” a military official privy to the new transitional arrangements said.

Robert Mugabe is credited with leading the South African nation to independence. For that reason like Nelson Mandela in South Africa, he is revered in the country. Although he was removed from office last week, to allow a more credible transition to take place, the authorities have not stopped from showering praises on him.

His wife Grace Mugabe has pleaded for the university project to proceed to remember the legacy of Mugabe.

“Of all the things they might do, they should not stop this project from continuing, because it will make us all remember Robert Gabriel Mugabe,” Grace Mugabe said as negotiations to get her husband out of power took place.

Robert Mugabe is reported to have also received a lump sum amount of money to settle in retirement, with sources claiming that up to USD ten million have been offered to the 93 year old former president.
